This Blogger Created a DIY Coffee Station That’s Just Like a Mini At-Home Café

This Blogger Created a DIY Coffee Station That’s Just Like a Mini At-Home Café

From The Pioneer Woman

For many, a freshly brewed pot of coffee is all the motivation needed to get started with your day. Just ask Ree Drummond, who looks forward to her first cup the moment she wakes up. “I wouldn't want to live in a world without coffee! It's pretty much my life,” she says.

But over the past year, it’s likely that your daily visit to a local café has been disrupted—or maybe you’re just trying to save some money by staying home and skipping your regular Starbucks order! If you're looking for a way to bring that same coffee shop atmosphere right to your kitchen, you're going to want to check out this idea for a cute, chic at-home coffee bar.

For UK-based blogger Medina Grillo of Grillo Designs, creating a DIY coffee station right in her home was exactly what she needed while confined indoors during quarantine.

“It’s nice to have a spot to stop and chat with my husband during our busy work from home days,” she says.

Medina started by choosing a space in her home that wasn’t being used and was otherwise empty. For her, this was an alcove in her dining room, the same place where her office is located and is also situated right by the kitchen.

“Being at home for long periods made me analyze how I could use spaces in my home a little bit better,” she explains.

Once the spot was settled, then it was time to brainstorm design ideas. Medina built her own stylish wooden feature wall, using small wooden slats and arranging them in a vertical pattern.

“I like the idea of having raw wood texture incorporated into a space,” she says of the look. It’s a similar design found in her living room, which is a great way to create subtle cohesion between your rooms.

Medina then brought in a cabinet in a cheery yellow hue for storage purposes where she keeps all necessary coffee supplies that she doesn't want to keep on top.

The top of the cabinet becomes the station itself, displaying the coffee maker, chic mugs, coffee syrups, and a cute basket to house coffee pods. If you use coffee grounds, an airtight canister would work as well! Finally, a wire storage basket and decorative touches including a fun print and a neon sign bring the space together.

Story continues

The best part about Medina’s design is that anyone can create a similar station, regardless of where you live. For instance, as a renter, she always makes sure her DIY tips are easy to remove (check out her book Home Sweet Rented Home, which is filled with amazing ideas!).

Here, she uses nails for putting up the wooden slats because they wouldn’t be too complicated to remove and fill the holes if moving out.

“Think multi-functional and short-term,” she advises for renters who want to customize their home. “Can everything you’ve designed be easily removed when it’s time to leave?”

The only part that will be better than building a fun DIY coffee station is supplying it with delicious coffees. We think waking up with Ree’s new The Pioneer Woman coffee line will be the perfect way to break in your new at-home café!

Alleged N7billion Kogi Isolation Centre: Kogi Governor Withdraws Suit Against Bayelsa Blogger Over Publication

Governor Yahaya Bello of Kogi State has withdrawn a suit against a Bayelsa State-born blogger and owner of Naija Live TV, Mr. Saint Onitsha over a report about the governor.

The report, published on May 2, 2020, alleged that N7 billion Covid-19 isolation centre purportedly built by the state government was blown away by a rainstorm.

The state government also withdrew the case of defamation filed against the blogger at the Federal High Court sitting in Yenagoa, Bayelsa State.

The authorities of the Department of State Services (DSS) had last year arrested, detained, and arraigned the blogger before the Federal High Court sitting in Yenagoa over the alleged publication of the collapse of the N7 billion Isolation centre located at the Federal Medical Centre, Lokoja in Kogi State.

According to the DSS, investigation and arrest of the Bayelsa News blogger have shown that the publication is no doubt an orchestration to tarnish the image of Bello, and incite the public against his administration.

But at today’s sitting of the Federal High Court in Yenagoa, the presiding Judge, Justice Abimbola Awogboro, struck out the case of defamation against the Bayelsa News Blogger based on the request of the state governor.

The accused news blogger had earlier tendered an unreserved apology to the governor, Bello, and the people of the state before the case against him was withdrawn by the Kogi State Government.

The news Blogger, who was full of praises for the Kogi State Governor, said "First of all, I want to appreciate the Kogi state governor for playing a fatherly role. I appreciate him because he has decided to forgive me as a father and I take him as a father from today. On the professional angle, as journalists, we do confirm stories before we publish. I will still make sure that going forward, I will get to the root of all my stories before publication."
